Marrakech Airport Transfer (RAK): Prices, Distance & How to Reach Your Hotel — 2026
Landing at Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) is the moment your trip really begins — and the drive from the airport to your riad is often a traveller's first impression of Morocco. Here is everything you need to organise your transfer with confidence.

Why book a private transfer?
Marrakech Menara Airport sits just 6 km from the Medina — about 15 to 25 minutes depending on traffic. On paper it's a short hop. But between unofficial taxis that overcharge tourists, the language barrier, luggage to manage and the summer heat, most travellers prefer to book their transfer in advance.
The concrete benefits of a private transfer:
- Fixed price at booking — no meter, no surge, no negotiation at the curb
- English- and French-speaking driver waiting with a name sign
- Free flight tracking — your driver adjusts the pickup time if your plane is late
- Air-conditioned vehicle (essential in summer, when it easily hits 40°C)
- Help with your luggage right to the door of your riad (often unreachable by car inside the Medina)

Marrakech airport transfer prices in 2026
Here are the current fixed prices for a private Marrakech–Menara transfer. The price you see is the price you pay — per vehicle, not per person.
| Route | Sedan (Mercedes E-Class) | SUV (Tucson) | 7-seat Van (Vito) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport → Medina | €39 | €22 | €28 |
| Airport → Gueliz | €39 | €22 | €28 |
| Airport → Hivernage | €39 | €22 | €28 |
| Airport → Palmeraie | €50 | €33 | €39 |
Why the difference? The Palmeraie is farther out (12–15 km) than the Medina or Gueliz. The Tucson is our value option (a comfortable SUV for up to 4 passengers), the E-Class is the premium standard, and the Vito suits families with bulky luggage.
Which neighbourhood should you stay in?
Medina — for authenticity. Walking distance to Jemaa el-Fna, the souks and traditional riads. Note: the car usually stops at the edge of the Medina (the alleys aren't drivable), so expect to be walked to your hotel.
Gueliz — the modern district. Trendy restaurants, international shops, quieter streets. Ideal for a first trip or a visit with children.
Hivernage — the upscale hotel district. La Mamounia, the Royal Mansour and many 5-star palaces. Reachable directly by car at the hotel entrance.
Palmeraie — a green oasis on the edge of Marrakech. Resorts with pools, more secluded. Best for a relaxing stay (not for exploring the Medina on foot).
How does booking work?
On PlanMorocco, booking takes 2 minutes:
- Enter your pickup point (RAK airport) and destination (your riad/hotel)
- Choose the vehicle based on passengers and luggage
- Enter your flight's arrival date and time
- Pay online (secure Stripe payment — Visa/Mastercard/Amex)
- Receive confirmation by email + WhatsApp
The day before pickup, you receive your driver's details (name, phone, vehicle plate) directly on WhatsApp, so you can reach them with any question.
When you land at RAK, your driver waits for you after customs, in the public arrivals area, holding a sign with your name. If your flight is delayed, don't worry — we track your flight number in real time and your driver waits at no extra charge.
Practical tips to start your trip right
Keep a written copy of your riad's address in Arabic. Many Medina riads have vague addresses ("derb X, near the Y mosque"). Ask your hotel for an exact GPS pin or a visual landmark.
Carry a little cash in dirhams. There's an ATM at the airport, or you can withdraw in town. Private transfers are paid online before departure, but you'll want cash for tips (optional and appreciated: 20–50 MAD for the driver).
Get online as soon as you land. Buy a Moroccan SIM at the airport (Maroc Telecom, Orange, INWI) for 100–200 MAD, or enable roaming. Handy for staying in touch with your driver and navigating.
Visas: citizens of the EU, UK, US, Canada, Australia and many other countries can enter Morocco visa-free for up to 90 days — but always check the current rules for your nationality before travelling.
If something goes wrong. Sarah (the PlanMorocco concierge) is on WhatsApp — the number is in your confirmation email. Replies within about 5 minutes during the day, and we handle the unexpected (cancelled flight, lost luggage, hotel change) at no extra charge.
