Ten days is the sweet spot for seeing the best of Morocco without rushing: two imperial cities, the High Atlas, the Sahara, the blue city of Chefchaouen and the northern coast. This is the classic one-way grand tour from Marrakech to Tangier, ideal with a private driver who handles the long legs while you soak up the changing landscapes. Prefer to fly home from Marrakech? It works as a loop too.
Day 1 — Arrive in Marrakech
Land at RAK, transfer to your riad, and ease into the medina. Evening at Jemaa el-Fna.
Day 2 — Marrakech highlights

The Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa, Jardin Majorelle, the souks and a hammam.
Day 3 — A day trip from Marrakech
Pick one: the Ourika Valley or Ouzoud Waterfalls in the Atlas, or Essaouira on the coast for sea air and a UNESCO medina.
Day 4 — Marrakech → Aït Benhaddou → Dades Valley
Cross the Tizi n'Tichka pass, stop at the UNESCO kasbah of Aït Benhaddou and Ouarzazate, and overnight in the dramatic Dades Valley (~340 km).
Day 5 — Dades → Todra Gorge → Merzouga
Walk the Todra Gorge, reach Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes, take a camel trek to a desert camp for sunset and a night under the stars (~270 km).
Day 6 — Merzouga → Fès
Sunrise in the dunes, then the long, scenic drive north through the Ziz Valley, the Azrou cedar forest and alpine Ifrane to Fès (~470 km).
Day 7 — Fès, the spiritual capital
Explore Fès el-Bali, the world's largest car-free medina: the Chouara tanneries, Al-Qarawiyyin and the blue gate Bab Boujloud. A local guide is worth it.
Day 8 — Fès → Chefchaouen
Drive north into the Rif mountains to Chefchaouen, the famous blue city — an afternoon of blue-washed lanes, mountain views and relaxed cafés. Overnight here (~200 km).
Day 9 — Chefchaouen → Tangier
Continue to Tangier on the strait, with its hillside medina, the Caves of Hercules and Cap Spartel where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean (~110 km).
Day 10 — Tangier & departure
A final morning in Tangier, then fly out — or take the Al Boraq high-speed train south, or the ferry to Spain.
How much driving — and why a private driver
This is a road trip across the whole country, so the big legs (Days 4–6) are long but broken by spectacular stops. A private driver makes it work:
- One vehicle, your group only, door-to-door between riads, camps and kasbahs.
- No navigation, no fatigue — you watch the scenery, not the road.
- Flexibility — add a night, linger at a viewpoint, swap a stop.
- A fixed price per vehicle, confirmed in advance.
FAQ — 10 days in Morocco
Is 10 days enough to see Morocco?
Yes — it's ideal. You get two imperial cities, the Atlas, the Sahara, Chefchaouen and the northern coast without rushing. Two weeks would let you add more of the coast or the south.
Should I end in Tangier or return to Marrakech?
One-way Marrakech → Tangier (flying out of Tangier, or taking the train/ferry) avoids backtracking. A loop back to Marrakech is fine if your flights require it — just expect a longer final leg.
Can I shorten it to a week?
Yes — drop Chefchaouen and Tangier and end in Fès for a classic 7-day Marrakech–desert–Fès route.
Is the long desert-to-Fès day too much?
It's the longest day (~470 km), but it's scenic and broken by stops at Ifrane and the Azrou cedar forest. A professional driver makes it comfortable.
