Kasbah Bab Ourika is perched on a hilltop at the entrance of the Ourika valley, above the village of Tnine Ourika, facing the Atlas. You arrive through Marrakech Menara Airport, and the journey is anything but a city transfer: an hour's drive, the plain and then the first hills, and a final stretch of track up to the kasbah. This guide compares the three ways to get there, prepares the arrival and answers travellers' questions. The price of our transfer is in the table at the top of this guide: it is the price of the kasbah's booking page, per vehicle, known before you pay.
Where is the kasbah compared with the airport?
The airport is south-west of Marrakech; the kasbah is south-east, where the Ourika road leaves the plain and enters the valley. Allow about an hour, depending on the traffic out of the city. The last stretch is a small road and then a track climbing to the kasbah: our drivers know it, and that is exactly what sets them apart from a taxi picked at random. The exact distance and journey time are in the table of this guide, taken from the kasbah's page.
The three ways to reach the kasbah

The kasbah's transfer
The kasbah can arrange your transfer from the airport, to be requested when you book your stay, on the kasbah's terms.
A taxi outside the airport
The airport's shared "grand taxis" go as far as Tnine Ourika. The fare is agreed before you get in, in dirhams, and small notes help. Be clear about the kasbah and its track: not every driver knows it, and a baby seat is not guaranteed.
A private transfer booked in advance
You book online before you leave. Your driver waits at the arrivals exit with a sign bearing your name, loads the luggage and drives you up to the kasbah, track included. The price is fixed per vehicle, not per person, paid online, and a baby or child seat is free on request. Flight delayed? Your driver waits, whatever the delay, at no extra charge.
| Kasbah transfer | Airport taxi | Pre-booked private transfer | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | Kasbah terms | Agreed before you get in | Fixed per vehicle, shown before you pay |
| Meet and greet | Depends on the kasbah | No | Driver with a sign bearing your name |
| The final track | Known | To be explained to the driver | Known, included in the journey |
| Baby or child seat | On request | Not guaranteed | Free on request |
| Flight delay | Depends on the kasbah | A new taxi on arrival | The driver waits, no extra charge |
| Payment | With your stay | Cash, in dirhams | Online, instant receipt |
On arrival: four things that make it easy
- Switch your phone on as soon as you land: your driver can message you if the hall is busy.
- Collect your luggage, then look for the sign with your name at the arrivals exit.
- Confirm the destination: "Kasbah Bab Ourika, Tnine Ourika". The driver knows the access and lets the kasbah know if needed.
- Check that the child seat requested at booking is fitted before you set off: it was prepared for you.
Arriving at night
A late flight followed by an hour's drive is common. The private transfer runs at any hour. Between midnight and six in the morning a night supplement applies; it is shown before payment, never after. Give the kasbah your arrival time; they will be expecting you.
During your stay
From the kasbah, the Ourika valley leads up to the Setti Fatma waterfalls and the Berber villages; Marrakech makes a day trip, with a driver who waits for you at the gates of the medina. Our Ourika valley guide gives ideas. The price and the booking of the transfer are on the kasbah's page. For the return to the airport, book the same way: same fixed price, departure from the kasbah at the agreed time, with the margin an hour's drive deserves.
FAQ — airport transfer to and from Kasbah Bab Ourika
How much is the transfer from Marrakech airport to Kasbah Bab Ourika?
The table at the top of this guide gives the price per vehicle, taken from the kasbah's booking page: it is the price you pay, all inclusive, track included, for a one-way daytime transfer.
How long does the journey take?
About an hour depending on traffic. The exact distance and journey time are shown in the table of this guide.
Does the driver go all the way up to the kasbah?
Yes, up to the kasbah entrance, track included. Our drivers know the access.
Can you provide a baby seat or a child seat?
Yes: baby seat, child seat or booster, free on request, at no extra charge. Give the age of each child when you book; the seat is in the vehicle before the driver leaves.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We track your flight in real time. Your driver leaves when your plane actually lands and waits for you at the exit, whatever the delay, at no extra charge.
Is the price per person or per vehicle?
Per vehicle. A couple or a family of four pay for the vehicle, not for the seats used. The table shows the seats of each vehicle.
Can I book the return to the airport at the same time?
Yes, at the same fixed price, with departure from the kasbah at the time you choose.
Can I cancel if my plans change?
Yes, cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pick-up. Between 48 and 24 hours before, half is refunded; under 24 hours, the transfer is no longer refundable.
